Grateful For This Family

In the fall of 1995, eighteen people came to our home to hear about and become a part of the start of a new church called Harbor Christian Center. Two of those people were Michael and Karen Sbory. I am very grateful for their faithfulness to our church and our community.

For the past 25 years, they have served this church in many ways. Karen has shared her remarkable talent for creating themed decorations we’ve used for services like Easter, Mother’s Day, and Christmas. She has tirelessly served large events for HCC and other ministries in our community. Both Michael and Karen have led an HCC Small Group, and Michael has been on our set up team for years, arriving at 6:00 am to set up platforms and chairs for our Sunday services.

Michael has also served as a first responder for the Tacoma Police Department for 30 years and will retire at the end of this month.

People like Michael and Karen with their children have helped HCC become the great church it is today. Also, Michael has modeled for us what many of our first responders do so well, “Serve and Protect.”

Next time you see them on a Sunday morning at HCC or in the community, be sure to thank them for being great followers of Jesus, shining His light of grace through their lives.

Congratulations, Michael, Karen, Haley and Evan!
