Join Us In Prayer

In the Lord’s prayer, Jesus reminds us that when we pray, we should ask that “His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” In other words, heaven is the model of what should be happening here on earth.

So what is heaven like?

When you read the last book of the Bible called Revelation, you will see a beautiful scene taking place in heaven;

“And they sang a new song with these words: “You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it. For You were slaughtered, and Your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.”  (Rev. 5:9, NLT)

Notice the people who are in heaven full of gratitude to God for his incredible gift of Jesus’ death on the cross on our behalf. They are people from every "tribe, language, and nation.” Every ethnicity deeply matters to God. Every human being is wonderfully created by God. This truth is also reflected in the U.S. Declaration of Independence.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal. That they are endowed by their creator." (Congress, July 4, 1776)

As a community of faith, it is our desire to see heaven on earth. That begins by contrite prayer and earnest confession, humbling ourselves before God as we express a sincere willingness, doing whatever it takes to heal the brokenness of racial injustice.

The President of our Foursquare denomination, Randy Remington, is calling all of our churches to three days of corporate prayer, fasting, and lament, June 15-17. He writes:

“Racism is evil and has no place in the family of God. We are more than non-racist; we are actively anti-racism. I call upon our Foursquare family to embrace these three days focused on corporate lament, repentance and hope-filled prayer. This is just a start, though. More needs to be done. Repentance involves turning away from evil and, at the same time, turning toward God’s goodness and the things He values. This implies that we will continue to make changes that invite His blessing.”

Would you join us as we pray, “His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
