God is on the Move...

You may have seen the news release from the Peninsula School District on Thursday, January 31st, that the Peninsula School Board has approved the purchase of the Cheney Family Branch building from the Boys and Girls Club of South Puget Sound, pending the passage of the school bond measure on February 12th.  The facility would become the district’s 10th elementary school opening in the fall of 2019.

Over the past year, the HCC Council and leadership have been praying and evaluating HCC’s potential purchase of the building.  We had initiated the process of evaluating that purchase, looking at costs, comparable properties, and funding sources.

While we have been working with the Boys and Girls Club of South Puget Sound through this process, we have always been very well aware that HCC was not the only party interested in the facility.  We have also been very well aware that we are not in control of this process. So while this most recent news may not have been what we expected, we are confident that God is in control of our future.

We, as a faith community, are interested in pursuing what God has for us in this present facility in partnership with the school district.

HCC started in partnership with the school district and have built a relationship with the district over the years in a variety of ways. We serve with Community in Schools, sponsor the Compassion Summit for schools counselors, host Henderson Bay graduations, and are looking to develop Family Experience events at local elementary schools. The district knows who we are and our core value of service to individuals and families.

Our leadership will be meeting with the district to begin discussions about our future at this location.  Would you pray with us as we continue to discern God’s leading and as we have further discussions regarding weekend services here at the Hope Center?

As this story of God’s leading develops, we will continue to update the BLOG and keep you and our community informed.

Thanks in advance for your prayers.
The HCC Team
